Vehicle in Lake NORTH WEBSTER – At 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Aaron Alfano, 21, South Ind. 5, Pierceton, drove his Jeep Grand Cherokee into Webster Lake.
According to the accident report, Alfano told Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies that he was driving on Backwater Road near Webster Lake when he reached behind his seat to get his cell phone. He then drove his vehicle into Webster Lake.
When deputies arrived on scene the vehicle was partially submerged. There were no injuries. Damages were estimated at $2,500 to $5,000.
Bond Revoked on Warsaw Man Bond has been revoked for a 50-year-old Warsaw man accused of dragging a Pierceton police officer with his vehicle last month.
Ricky Owens, 50, of 3699 N. CR 175E, Warsaw, was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal recklessness and resisting/fleeing law enforcement. Owens’ bond was set at $2,000 originally.
Pierceton Deputy Marshal Jim Bumbaugh had initiated a traffic stop on Ind. 13 near Elm Street in Pierceton at 6:09 p.m. May 29 after observing a suspected intoxicated driver.
As Bumbaugh was near the open door of the stopped vehicle, the driver, later identified as Owens, started the car and began to flee. Bumbaugh attempted to restrain Owens but was dragged onto the pavement as the vehicle accelerated.
Child Molestation A Warsaw man was arrested Thursday in connection with a child molestation that took place when an unnamed adult was a juvenile.
Paul Wiard, 50, of 1011 Arthur St., Warsaw, was arrested by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies at 1:31 p.m. at Pike Lake Campground.
An adult female, who has been working with the sheriff’s department since last week, informed sheriff’s detectives that she had been molested by Wiard several years ago when she was a juvenile.
