Police Arrest Several Minors At Large Party Near NappaneeNAPPANEE – Police responding to a report of a loud party Saturday found a large number of minors illegally consuming alcohol.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was called to the party in the 29000 block of CR 52 at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, according to an ECSO release.
Officers found 41 people under the age of 21 who had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Twenty of them were under the age of 18 and released to their parents. The rest were issued tickets for illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages and released at the scene.
Those cited and released were David D. Yoder, 20, Middlebury; Lyndon D. Byler, 20, Goshen; Brian Borkholder, 19, Bremen; Marion J. Otto, 19, Arcola, Ill.; Aaron J. Miller, 19, Nappanee; Erica D Fry, 19, Shipshewana; Sarahann A. Schrock, 19, Goshen; Suzanna R. Borkholder, 19, Wakarusa; Dorcas R. Plank, 19, Bremen; Eric A. Yoder, 18, Nappanee; Lamar J. Slabaugh, 18, Nappanee; Thomas A. Borkholder, 18, Bremen; Deandre Hochstetler, 18, Bremen; Toby Detweiler, 18, Shipshewana; Freeman Yoder Jr., 18, Ligonier; Lyndon J. Bontrager, 18, Nappanee; Eric D. Hochstetler, 18, Nappanee; Dora S. Slabaugh, 18, Etna Green; Jeremy D. Yoder, 18, Middlebury; Isaac R. Miller, 18, Middlebury; and Matthew J. Chupp, 18, Nappanee.
Two minors ages 16 and 17 were taken by Nappanee EMS to Goshen Hospital for treatment due to consuming excessive alcohol.
Officers and EMS personnel removed many people from cold vehicles that were passed out, the release said.
The person hosting the party, Mervin Dale Miller, 25, was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was also cited for a noise ordinance violation.
