Plymouth Man Arrested for Ramming Wife's Vehicle

Two domestic violence incidents in Warsaw over the weekend ended with two men in jail.

The first incident occurred Friday around 5:45 p.m. when Siamuel A. Stemen, 27, of 722 E. LaPorte St., Plymouth, stalked and deliberately rammed his wife’s vehicle on East Market Street in Warsaw while a protective order was in place.

The incident began when Kathryn M. Stemen, 27, got off work around 5 p.m. and received a telephone call from her estranged husband, who stated he had just watched her leave work and drive downtown.

While downtown,  Siamuel drove by Kathryn and yelled at her, almost striking her white Chevrolet Equinox. She then drove down Market Street, and near Bronson Street she observed Siamuel’s vehicle, a grey Toyota Tacoma, drive up next to her and swerve into the driver’s side of her car. This occurred two more times, eventually forcing her off the road and into a yard at which time, Siamuel drove off.

While Kathryn was speaking with police, Siamuel called her cell phone, but Warsaw police answered the call and told  Siamuel to come to the Warsaw Police Department, but he responded saying he called the wrong number. Police tracked the cell phone and found it moving through Elkhart County. An attempt to locate the grey Toyota Tacoma and  Siamuel was sent out.

Siamuel was later located by Edwardsburg, Mich., police after having attempting to cut his wrists. Edwardsburg police advised Siamuel was intoxicated and was transported to a hospital in Dowagiac, Mich. Edwardsburg police also located the Toyota Tacoma that showed damage consistent with the rammings that occurred in Warsaw.

After being treated,  Siamuel was transported to the Cass County Jail in Michigan, and held on a temporary felony warrant. Warsaw police are working with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office and have filed the following felony charges: domestic battery, criminal recklessness with a motor vehicle, criminal stalking, invasion of privacy, criminal mischief and resisting law enforcement.

The second incident occurred Sunday at 2:09 a.m. when Central Dispatch received a 911 call from 502 S. Union St., Warsaw.

Upon arrival, officers found a female crying in apartment 4 holding an infant with several other small children present. As officers investigated, a male, identified as Rick L. Kensinger, 31, of 502 S. Union St., Warsaw, was found hiding in a closet. Kensinger was found to have an active warrant out of Kosciusko County for felony domestic battery.

Officers also located marijuana and a glass smoking pipe on Kensinger. The investigation found the woman was battered and strangled twice by Kensinger after he had been drinking and they argued. Kensinger took and damaged the victim’s cell phone and threatened her if she called the police. Warsaw police observed injuries to the victim’s face and neck.

Kensinger was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on felony charges of domestic battery and strangulation. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and interfering with the reporting of a crime. He was also served the warrants for his arrest.
