A Pierceton woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly forged another woman’s name on a vehicle’s title and transferred the title to her own name without permission. Officers spoke with a woman Sept. 12 who said she had been living with a man in Kosciusko County before moving to Hudson to live with a relative. The woman told police she left her 1998 Jeep Cherokee at the man’s residence and when she came back from Hudson, the man’s mother, Suzanne Kinney, 70, Pierceton, had forged her name on the Cherokee’s title and transferred the title into her own name without permission, according to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. Police then obtained information from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and found the original owner’s name was handwritten under seller information dated July 30. The purchaser information was listed in Kinney’s name. Officers then spoke to Kinney, who admitted she had signed the woman’s name on the title and sent the title to the BMV on July 31. Kinney was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of forgery. She was held on a $2,000 bond.
