PIERCETON – A Pierceton woman was arrested early Friday after the vehicle she was driving slammed into a tree.
Paula Renee Shuey, 39, of 303 S. Third St., Pierceton, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with refusal to submit to a chemical and breath test. She was arrested at 4:34 a.m. after a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy found her vehicle off the roadway along East CR 200N, 6,600 feet east of North CR 650E, Pierceton, two hours earlier.
According to the crash report, she drove off the roadway and struck a tree with the passenger side of her vehicle, sustaining major damage. She was apparently intoxicated and refused to submit to testing, but blew 0.18 on a portable breath test, according to the report. The results of a blood draw are pending.
Shuey sustained abrasions to her lower leg in the accident, according to the report.
In addition, the report notes that Shuey’s vehicle had expired plates and she did not have insurance. She was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $550 bond.
