Pierceton Talks About Leaves, Halloween, Alley Vacation

PIERCETON - Town council members held a short meeting Monday night setting Halloween trick-or-treat hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. The Lion's Club will sponsor a Halloween party for youngsters at the Pierceton Elementary School Oc.t 30 beginning at 6 p.m.

Jerry Kreger, president of the board, and Terry Hill attended the meeting. Ron Hall was absent.

Leaf pickup is scheduled to begin Monday. On Mondays collection begins south of Catholic Street and west of First Street. On Wednesdays pickup is south of Catholic Street and east of First Street. On Thursdays leaves left near the curb will be picked up north of Catholic Street.

Leaves must be at the road side before 10 a.m. on the day of pickup or they may not be picked up until the following week. They should be away from utility poles, signs, mailboxes and other installations.

No branches or trash should be included in the leaf piles.

Ken Davis discussed a proposed alley vacation running east and west behind his property at 212 E. Market St. Davis gained a recommended vacation approval from the county Board of Zoning Appeals recently and awaits legal advertisement of a public hearing and a nod from the council.

Town Marshall George Alexander presented a request by McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel regarding installation of a handicapped parking space near the curbing in front of the establishment by a ramp.

A four-way stop at the intersection of Elm and Washington streets was added to the stop sign ordinance.

Representatives from Kosciusko Development Inc., Joy McCarthy-Sessing and Dave Clay, attended the meeting.
