PIERCETON – Pierceton town council members heard a request for tax abatements from Shiloh Die Cast Midwest representative Steve Snyder at the Monday meeting. Several Shiloh employees also attended the meeting. The business is located in Arnolt Industrial Park where 106 people work in the 106,000-square-foot facility. An additional 70 people will be hired by 2018 in addition to new equipment and property improvement purchases of $2 million. The building upgrades should be complete in two years, Snyder said. Council members Mandy Espinoza, Jim Bumbaugh and Ron Hall approved the first hearing of the requested tax abatements and will take final action in March. In other business, the board: • Approved an agreement with the county to maintain police department in-car software. • Released several mortgages presented by Housing Opportunities of Warsaw. Ten years ago several housing improvement loans were granted with the stipulation that the loans would be written off if the current property owner remained in the home during the 10- or five-year period.
