A Pierceton man is in the custody of the Kosciusko County sheriff a year after two warrants were issued for his arrest.
Kevin L. Staley, Pierceton, and also showing an address in Vincennes, was arrested at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday for intimidation and felony home improvement fraud. His bond was set at $58,500.
Staley is charged with a level 6 felony of intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor for driving while suspended and a Class B misdemeanor for failure to stop after a vehicle accident stemming from a March 21, 2018, hit-and-run accident.
KCSO deputies responded to that accident, near Ind. 13 just north of U.S. 30. According to the probable cause affidavit, Staley was upset after his girlfriend of six months broke up with him. Staley showed up at the victim’s place of employment and confronted her in the parking lot, asking to speak to her. The victim told him no, and drove off. Staley then followed her. During that time, Staley was on the phone with the victim and asked her if she was going to talk to him, and she stated, “No, I am not.”
Staley then told the victim, “you’re going to die, b****,” and then drove his red Ford pickup truck into the passenger side of her vehicle before driving off.
No injuries were reported.
The home improvement fraud charge stems from an October 2017 picket fence deal gone bad.
A homeowner hired Staley to remove his current fence and replace it with a new picket fence. The cost of the job was to be $4,830. The victim told police he paid Staley half of that, and that Staley did remove the old fence, drilled new holes and set four posts for the new fencing, but that was it.
The homeowner stated he has not been able to contact Staley since April or early May 2018.
