A woman had to be rescued from a house Friday morning after a tree fell on it during reported high winds.
A spokesperson for the Pierceton Fire Department said they were paged out at 11:05 a.m. Friday to 5784 S. Maple Grove Lane, Warsaw. When they arrived, they found a tree had fallen on the home and a woman was trapped inside. The tree had fallen in such a way that it blocked both doorways of the house.
The woman had to be rescued through a window after firefighters broke through it and a window sash to remove her. She was transported by Lutheran EMS. While the firefighter could not confirm whether or not the woman had any injuries, he said they didn’t see any major ones.
The woman’s name was not released, but the firefighter said they were told the homeowner was out of state.
County public records indicate the property is owned by Ronald D. Meade Sr., Ronald D. Meade Jr. and Linda A. Meade, joint tenants with right of survivorship to Denise Jackson.
Sidney Fire Department also responded for mutual aid. Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory was initially contacted for assistance but disregarded.
