Pierceton Conducts Year-End Biz

PIERCETON – During the last meeting of the year for the Pierceton Town Council Wednesday afternoon, residents were reminded that due to the holidays, trash pickup in town is running a day late.
Outgoing councilman Jerry Kreger made that a point of emphasis in his and councilman Jerry Hartman’s last meeting as town representatives.
In November, both men lost in a general election. Mandy Espinoza is the only returning councilman. He’ll be joined by Ronald Hall and Pierceton police officer Jim Bumbaugh.
They were sworn in today as town councilmen.
Also during Wednesday afternoon’s meeting, one-year contracts were signed with town utilities superintendent Chip Hill and town marshal Tim Sammons.
The council signed a salary ordinance that raised the police department personnel’s salary by 3 percent and the street department’s by 5 percent.
The council also agreed to a contract with town attorney Jim Walmer to retain his services.
The approval of claims through the rest of 2011 and memberships to different associations also were improved.
