Pedestrian Hit, Killed By 3 Vehicles In Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY - A pedestrian from Michigan was killed in Whitley County after being hit by three vehicles.
The incident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. Monday on U.S. 24, west of CR 800E.
Information from an Indiana State Police news release states that the initial investigation by the ISP Critical Incident Reconstruction Team shows that, for an unknown reason, Vicente Ramos, 32, of Adrian, Mich., walked into the roadway and was hit by three vehicles traveling on U.S. 24. Ramos died from his injuries at the scene.
One vehicle was a 2020 GMC Terrain SUV, driven by Rocky Burns, 65, North Manchester. A second vehicle was a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Maria Shepherd, 68, Lagro. The third vehicle was a 2019 Ford Mustang, driven by Preston Watkins, 21, of North Webster.
Ramos was identified by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office and his family was notified, the release states. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is still under investigation by the Indiana State Police as they continue to collect evidence and find information.
ISP was assisted by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson Township Fire, Washington Township Fire and Parkview EMS.
