Kosciusko County Prosecutor Chuck Waggoner hands the torch for the 2001 World Police & Fire Games to the first runner during a pre-run ceremony Monday at Center Lake Park. The games, an Olympic-style event, are held every two years to promote physical fitness among law enforcement officers and career firefighters. An estimated 10,000 athletes will converge on the Indianapolis area Friday through June 16 to compete in 70 sports. Even though Kosciusko County has no representation in the games, the torch made its way through Warsaw from Goshen before going on to Fort Wayne in its trek to Indianapolis.
