Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved Warsaw Parks Department to apply for a grant for Center Lake shoreline stabilization.
The parks department will apply for a Lakes and River Enhancement grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Soil Conservation.
If approved, the grant would be for the engineering, implementation and construction stage for shoreline stabilization at Center Lake.The stabilization would be 730 lineal feet from the pump house west of the beach to the old boat launch at the Nye Youth Cabin parking lot.
The estimated cost of the project is $110,960 with a 25 percent match budgeted in the parks and recreation budget.
The parks department will be notified in July if the grant is approved.
The board also approved for the Warsaw Fire Department to accept a restored 1923 Ahrens Fox antique fire truck from Doc Fuson.
The truck will not be placed in any type of active service, but will be used in parades, according to WFD Chief Mike Rice.
Insurance for the fire truck will be covered by the city.
The board also approved WFD replacing its 2001 Chevrolet command vehicle. The department will purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe from Kelley Chevrolet, Fort Wayne.
The board approved Warsaw Parks Department to apply for a grant from the Kosciusko Convention and Visitor's Bureau tourism promotion fund to support advertising for the 2009 classic rock concert.
The board also:
n Approved an agreement between the city and the Animal Welfare League for the city to provide $16,500 per year for AWL's services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and City-County Athletic Complex for Warsaw to provide $31,000 to the organization for its services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Kosciusko Development Inc. for the city to provide $5,000 for KDI's services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Kosciusko Area Bus Service for the city to provide $18,500 for KABS' services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Sus Amigos for the city to provide $8,000 for the organization's services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Warsaw Community Development Corp. for $12,600 for the corporation's services.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Housing Opportunities of Warsaw for the city to pay $25,000 to HOW.
n Approved an agreement between the city and Larry Polk for a parking facility lease.
