Paragon Nears 50 Percent Participation in United Way Campaign

PIERCETON – Paragon Medical nearly doubled employee participation as a United Way pacesetter this year.
The orthopedic company last week celebrated its 48 percent employee participation in donating to United Way of Kosciusko County. Participation was just two points short of its goal and well above its 27 percent participation last year, according to Tabitha Cooper, manager of strategic development.
The company celebrated with a week of office games including tug-of-war, paper airplane throwing, office chair races and wastepaper basketball. Paragon’s 16 departments also competed in a Chia pet-raising contest all week.
The week was capped off with a thank-you cookout at the company’s Pierceton facility Friday, during which employees got to watch a padded-armor joust between Rick Stetler, vice president of North American relations, and Michael Gosmeyer, vice president of quality assurance and regulatory fairs.
“What we accomplished was huge anyway, in terms of overall dollars,” despite coming two points shy of the 50 percent participation goal, Cooper remarked this morning. “The whole goal was to raise money and have fun, and I felt we more than accomplished that.”
