Opening in 1991, Paragon Medical Inc. has become the only manufacturer that has its own software package to manage the entire process of production and distribution of surgical instruments and trays.
Paragon's chairman, president and CEO, Tobias Buck, reports these "tackle boxes for surgeons" are customized so surgeons have all their supplies in one box. A hip surgery may require 15 cases of specialized surgical equipment, while a knee surgery may require 22. Paragon supplies all facets of this cycle, from development, decontamination, cleaning of the instruments, kit configuration, final sterilization, scheduling and delivery.
Paragon is as much a leader in the community as they are in the orthopedics field. For the United Way Campaign, the "buck" stops with Toby Buck. This year, Buck is providing the motivation of a "Camp-aign Counselor," for his community. Paragon's purpose for being a pacesetter is to provide community leadership and to give something back to the community's residents.
Paragon's employees have set a goal that will challenge them and "camp counselor" Buck. Employees will camp out during a root beer float social and enjoy other events to go along with their camp theme, while raising United Way dollars. All dollars raised through Paragon stay in the community to benefit Kosciusko County residents. Buck said, "United Way has made a lasting impression on me and my employees. Paragon is happy to be a part of an organization that helps so many."
Six pacesetter companies will run early United Way campaigns. Other pacesetters are Miller's Merry Manor (Warsaw and Syracuse), Farmers State Bank, Heartline Pregnancy Center, Medtronic Sofamor Danek and Bertsch Services. Pacesetters jumpstart the United Way campaign and encourage other companies to continue the successful momentum of giving they establish.
