Parade Of Homes At Cherry Creek Manor

Posted

WINONA LAKE - The site of the Builders Association of Kosciusko/Fulton Counties' 2006 Homes on Parade is Cherry Creek Manor, on Packerton Road between Pierceton Road and CR 225S, near Winona Lake.

VIP Night Thursday provided the opportunity for the Builders Association to recognize the builders and introduce the hosts and sponsors of the event. Joni Truex, the executive officer of the Builders Association, opened the ceremonies by welcoming everyone to the 21st Homes on Parade VIP night. She said, "I want to thank the board members for their leadership, commitment and time that went into preparing for this year's Homes on Parade." She then introduced Jeff Hamman, Builders Association president.

Hamman thanked the host sponsor for VIP night, Kosciusko County REMC, represented by Larry Easterday, 2006 VIP night committee chairman. Easterday said, "We're honored to be the electric provider for Cherry Creek Manor and to provide the lighting for the Homes on Parade at no charge. I want to thank all the REMC employees who have been involved. It's a team event with the builders and employees of REMC working together to make this happen."

Hamman introduced the developers of Cherry Hill Manor: Shelley and Glynn Johnson, Dan and Fannie Widaman and Linn and Stan Arnolt.

Hamman said, "There were 14 builders qualified, six of which participated in this year's Parade."

The builders of the six homes built for this year's parade are: Renewal Homes LLC, T.L. Jackson Construction Inc., Coplen Construction Inc., Inglenook LLC, Freeman & Harter Custom Homes and Miller Brothers Builders Inc.

Catering was by Boss Hogg, and music was provided by a cellist and flautist with MasterWorks. Grace College students dressed as Southern belles greeted visitors at the entry to each home.

Wooded areas surround Cherry Creek Manor.

Combinations of carpet and ceramic tile floor coverings are common in most homes. One home has a large round inlay in the entry, made of small ceramic pieces in a circular design. Wall colors continue to trend toward darker earth tones, but the open floor plans and high, light-colored ceilings keep the rooms from seeming dark.

Look for:

• Combinations of dark, even black wood in cabinets and furniture, accented with gold and rich darker colors, but contrasted with off-white.

• Large, live-in lower levels, with everything from a slide between the levels to home theater areas, kitchens and bedrooms in the large, finished areas.

• Heavier, overstuffed furniture and large, comfortable looking beds .

Photographic renderings of the homes and floor plans were contained in a special section in Thursday's Times-Union.

This parade runs Saturday through Sept. 17, and is open from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and over, ages 6-12 are $1, and children under age 6 are free.
