Many will find it hard to have the money to put Christmas dinner on the table.
That is why Our Father's House is offering its 12th annual Christmas Food Basket giveaway.
Sign up for the free food baskets begins Monday and will continue until Dec. 17, according to Roz Morgan, Our Father's House founding director. Those who qualify for the baskets can pick them up at Our Father's House Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hours to sign up for food baskets at Our Father's House, 401 Argonne Road, Warsaw, are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To qualify for a food basket, people must have a minimum of three people in their family and have a need for the food. Food baskets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Items in the basket were purchased by Our Father's House, and donated by the community and include turkey or ham and fixings to prepare green bean casserole, gravy, instant potatoes and pumpkin pie.
Our Father's House also gave out food baskets to 120 to 125 families this past Thanksgiving.
"We are focusing on giving out food and assisting with immediate needs so no one goes hungry this Christmas," Morgan said.
The community also is encouraged to donate canned food for the food baskets.
"We can all help when one can of soup can make a difference for a child because that may be all they have to eat," Morgan said.
Morgan said Our Father's House is serving 100 people a day in its dining room.
Last year, at this time, 60 to 90 people were served per day in the dining room.
