An extensive article in the 2010 Lily Endowment’s annual report features the efforts of OrthoWorx in the area. The article, titled “Building on Strength”, highlights Warsaw and the region as the “World’s Orthopedic Capital”. The article points out such facts that the average employee in the orthopedic industry in Warsaw makes nearly $25,000 more than the average private sector worker, as well as that Kosciusko County has grown its health and biomedical base by 39 percent since 2001. That’s compared to 15 percent for Indiana and the United States. OrthoWorx Executive Director Brad Bishop, Kosciusko County Community Foundation Executive Director Suzie Light, Grace College President Dr. Ron Manahan and Zimmer Senior Vice President Cheryl R. Blanchard are featured prominently in the six-page article for their efforts with OrthoWorx. The article also goes in to some of the challenges OrthoWorx faces after a study commissioned showed what needs to be done to bring more highly skilled talent that isn’t homegrown to the area and keeping that homegrown talent from leaving.
