Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer and staff at the new Warsaw City Hall invite the community to an open house Saturday. The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new city hall at 102 S. Buffalo St. The former First National Bank building on the Courthouse Square underwent a major renovation during 2012. City offices moved into the building the week before Christmas. A dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday. Thallemer, former mayor Ernie Wiggins, current Council President Diane Quance, and State Representative Rebecca Kubacki will give brief comments before the ribbon cutting. Tours of the new facility will be offered until 1 p.m. Weather permitting, beginning at 9:30 a.m. the Warsaw Community High School jazz band will perform from the west side second floor balcony. A focal point in the main lobby is a vintage 13-foot, two-sided oak bench that originally sat in the Warsaw Train Depot. The lobby includes a display area recognizing local orthopedic companies which have earned Warsaw the title “Orthopedic Capital of the World.” The Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society each have a wall in the lobby to display photos and feature local businesses. Local artist Terry Armstrong will have an exhibit in the main hall. Enter a drawing to win one of 10 copies of the book “A History of Warsaw” to be given away.
