Old Train Depot In Warsaw Seeking New Ownership

Posted
The board of directors of the Old Train Depot in Warsaw are seeking new ownership for the historic downtown building.
The board has decided it is in the best interest of the city to seek new owners  who would be willing and able to invest in the train station, according to Julie Hall, board member and realtor.
The Old Train Depot, 212 W. Jefferson St., was built in 1893 and was used as a working railway station up until the late 1980s.
The depot was then sold and used as a ceramic shop and residence. Since then the building has been used as a retail store with a loft apartment.
The building currently houses an upstairs apartment that is being rented, and office space is being rented in the building.
Hall said there have been several people interested in turning the depot into a restaurant, coffee lounge, a meeting place or an art gallery.
“The possibilities are endless with the historic building, ample parking, rustic charm and one of the very buildings left that breath history into the Kosciusko community,” Hall said.
The depot is within the downtown city limits and is eligible for many downtown and historical use grants. The building is zoned commercial and residential.
Any other use would require a petition to the Board of Zoning Appeals and a public meeting.
