Conservation officers credit an ATV rider’s helmet with preventing more serious injuries in an accident she experienced Saturday. Jaqualynn R. Long, 12, North Webster, was riding an ATV on private property near her residence at 4:30 p.m. Saturday when she fell from the vehicle, causing a compound fracture to her left forearm. Indiana Conservation officers report that the helmet she wore “very likely saved her from more extensive injuries than what she suffered.” Long was transported in stable condition by Lutheran Air Ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Pierceton Fire Department and Kosciusko County Multi Township EMS also responded.
