NORTH WEBSTER – The North Webster Town Council approved a $2 increase on its lien fee for delinquent sewer accounts. The change comes because the fee went up at the county level said North Webster Clerk-Treasurer Betsy Luce. The fee will increase from $26 to $28. This fee is not connected to any town ordinances involving property that the town deems to be unsafe or in disrepair. The town board did discuss the possibility of creating an ordinance that would give the town the ability to demolish an unsafe building. Town attorney Jack Birch said that unless the ordinance is worded a certain way it would be very hard for the town to do it. “If someone fights it, it’s difficult to enforce it,” said Birch. Birch was instructed to look into crafting a possible ordinance. The annual St. Jude’s Bike ride that begins in North Webster will be June 4. North Webster police will provide extra patrol but no roads will be shut down for the event. Greg Gear, Severn Trent, gave the board its annual utilities report with projected activities for this year. Gear put in a request for summer help and the board approved it. Spring clean-up day for North Webster is May 9. The town board’s next meeting is May 17 at 6 p.m. at the North Webster Community Center. Town board members are Jon Sroufe, Tim Hine and Lisa Strombeck.
