NORTH WEBSTER – The North Webster Town Council rezoned a parcel of land on Himes Street during a brief meeting Tuesday.
Council voted to change the zoning on the land at 330 Himes Street so that a parking lot could be put in.
The lot was purchased by the town and a mobile home on it was torn down.
The parking lot will allow for more parking near Webster Lake and the Dixie Boat.
The zoning was changed from residential to commercial.
Clerk-Treasurer Betsy Luce told the council that she received the town’s payment from the state after an audit found a previously unaccounted for $205 million.
Luce said the town received $19,074.68 into its County Option Income Tax Fund and $11,193.01 into its County Economic Development Income Tax fund.
Council didn’t make any motion to appropriate that money during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Councilman Tim Hine asked that the street department look at putting yield signs in alleys around town.
Severn Trent, who is the company that takes care of the town’s streets and utilities, will bring a proposal to the town next month.
Severn Trent will also come to the council’s May 15 meeting with a proposal on costs for replacing three valves at the town lift station.
Council was told Tuesday night that there are leaks causing the system to run 24 hours a day rather than 6 hours a day.
Each valve will cost around $1,000 but excavating for the valves could range from $3,500 and $7,000.
The council also approved a request by Luce to attend a conference May 17 and 18. The cost is $125.
The council meets at the North Webster Community Center each month at 6 p.m.
