A North Webster man was arrested after allegedly inappropriately touching a minor under the age of 16.
Juan Carlos Acuahuitl, 24, of 8410 E. Sumac Lane, North Webster, is charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 6 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:34 a.m. Friday on a $7,500 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 21 a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office corporal received an initial report from the Department of Child Services reporting an alleged sexual misconduct that was reported to their office.
The child reported to DCS that on Dec. 31, 2023, they were attending a gathering and got tired and laid down to rest. At some point Acuahuitl laid down beside them and inappropriately touched them. The child then ran out of the room.
On or about April 28, the child participated in a forensic interview at Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center. The child explained what happened.
On or about May 2, Acuahutl went to KCSO for an interview. He admitted to having his arm around the child but said he was hugging them and squeezed their shoulder. He admitted to having the urge to kiss the child and leaned in to kiss them, but realized he was doing something wrong when he saw the look on the child’s face. Acuahutl said he called the child and apologized.
