North Webster Home To 4,000-Square-Foot Haunted House

Posted
Work began on The A-Maz-Ing Haunted House in North Webster as soon as the town’s Mermaid Festival was complete.
Lions Club and Boy Scout Troup 726 members are now putting the finishing touches on the more than 4,000 square-foot haunted house that opens Oct. 21 at the North Webster Lions Fairgrounds, 499 W. Washington St.
It runs Oct 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. each night.
Admission is $5 for everyone 5 and older.
According to Jay Johnson with the Lions Club, this year’s theme is “Wild on Webster”.
While the them is North Webster-centric, the thrills and frights are for everyone.
Johnson said the house takes about 25 minutes to get through and that hay rides are also available.
The haunted house is geared toward older kids but the earlier shows are more young-kid friendly.
Those entering the haunted house will come in by bus across the troll bridge.
They will encounter such things as as crazy campsite, Shock Hill, a Wild Wawasee jungle, Rodent Alley, a spinning room, stairs to nowhere, Sue’s Creepy Creature Lagoon and a haunted hotel that was previously occupied by gangster Al Capone and John Dillinger.
For those who build up a hunger before or after the haunted house, Holy Smokes BBQ will be on hand to sell concessions.
The proceeds from the event go to help fund programs in North Webster.
Money goes to the scouts and Lions Club.
The A-maz-ing Haunted House has brought screams to people in Kosciusko County for 20 years.
“I think its one of the area’s best kept secrets,” said Johnson.
More than 50 people have been involved in the building of the haunted house and will work as characters throughout the four days the haunted house is open.
Johnson said he was taken aback by the generosity of the community for their donations to the haunted house.
North Webster Ace Hardware, Da-Lite Screen, KC Recycling Depot and Richcreek Farms were donors for the Haunted House.
