North Webster Community Center Seeks Items For Annual Charity Auction

Posted
NORTH WEBSTER - In preparation for its Second Annual North Webster Community Center Heart of the Community Charity Auction & Raffle, the NWCC board of directors is appealing to area residents for donations for both its silent and live auctions.

The auction and raffle are slated for 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 at the center.

"Literally, hundreds of people converged on the center last October for a chance to win prizes and raise money for the privately funded center to help underwrite improvements and operations for yet another year," said Tracy May, executive director. "In the process, as you've probably heard, we had a lot of fun in what is developing into a truly enjoyable evening. Last year's revenues allowed us to expand facilities for the library and move the senior center into a newly refurbished room while supporting programming throughout the year."

Specifically, May said, the NWCC board is seeking quality goods and services, tangible items, gift certificates to restaurants and stores and most any other new item that might attract the eye of a live or silent auction bidder. The center's staff will arrange to pick up items for those calling 574-834-1600.

The NWCC's biggest raffle items this year include a 2011 JC Pontoon and a 2010 Rockwood popup camper plus $2,000 and $1,000 cash prices, all of which will be raffled off during the auction.

A $20 raffle ticket includes admission to the event, the ability to bid at the auction, a shot at the raffle prizes, free popcorn, access to a cash bar and the chance to visit in the NWCC gym with hundreds of area friends and neighbors. The NWCC's board is planning on a buffet dinner for 600 served by the staff of Golden Corral.

"We have always felt very fortunate to be a part of a community that has done its best to support us, and we hope that you will be able to supply some items for the live and silent auctions or at the least join us for this special evening," May said. "With the support and participation of our local merchants and neighbors, the Heart of the Community Charity Auction will allow us to continue to serve our community in the fashion to which all of us have become accustomed."

Along with the NWCC, raffle tickets are available at the American Legion Post 253, Sue's Creations, NW Ace Hardware, Kings Keg, Sheila's Sweet Treats, Jimmy's restaurant, Bart's Watersports, Wawasee Bowl, Joe's Ice Cream, Jill & Jen's Salon, North Webster NewMarket, Key Bank of North Webster, Ye Olde Pub, Lake City Bank of North Webster, White's service station and the Sleepy Owl.
