North Webster Approves One-Day Fee Waiver For Festival Vendors

For the 2nd Annual Dixie Days Fesitval in North Webster, Tuesday night the town's council decided to waive a vendor fee for July 31.
Tonya Bowser, president of the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce, asked the council to waive the fee for food and artisan vendors that will be at the festival July 31.
Bowser said it was to bring vendors to the event and that the chamber would provide vendors with information and include information on fees for 2011.
The board approved the one-day waiver fee provided that all vendors present were licensed properly through the state.
Bowser said she made sure that every vendor is properly licensed.
The council approved a request by Town Marshal Greg Church to purchase tasers granted that the purchase doesn't exceed $4,000.
A temporary employee for Severn Trent, who is contracted out by the town for utilites maintenance, was approved.
Council president Jon Sroufe said that he expected the town to look better than it has in a long time with an extra person working for the town.
The person is hired through a temp service and will be paid $9 per hour.
Two 5Ks were announced at Tuesday night's meeting.
The Warpath 5K will be held Saturday at The Center in North Webster. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a one-mile fun run/walk for kids. The cost is $15 to enter before race day and $20 on race day.

Milford Fest will host a 5K May 29 at 9 a.m. at Waubee Lake.
Later in the meeting Bowser was given permission to close off a block on East Washington Street for the Dixie Days with the last band Saturday night ending at 9 p.m.
Though no decision was made, an ATV ordinance was discussed Tuesday night.
The town board may decide whether to pass such an ordinance at their June 22 meeting.
The board meets the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the North Webster Community Center.
North Webster will hold a budget workshop at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
