A new beer, wine and liquor riverfront/lakefront district license was approved Thursday for North Shore Brewing Company LLC, 105 W. Main St., Syracuse, by the Kosciusko County Alcohol Tobacco Commission.
North Shore Brewing is owned by founding members Adam and Kimberly Prezbindowski.
“We are a small brewery. We make and serve our own beer,” Adam said. “We have already our small brewers license. That license allows us to sell the product that we make, however, we also want to be a casual sort of community center where people can mix and mingle a little bit. Just sit down and talk story. It’s kind of a Hawaiian-themed establishment where we can also serve options for people who don’t prefer beer. So, perhaps, wine, cocktails, liquor.”
Because of their personal love of beer, culture and craft beer, he said they’d like to be able to import beer from “places people haven’t been. Tell them a story about perhaps a fancy Belgian beer that they’ve never (had), or maybe something from Italy.” Adam said it would be really fun to share that with people.
ATC President Alan Alderfer asked the Prezbindowskis a list of questions, including if they were applying for carryout privileges.
Kimberly replied yes as they were doing crowler fills for their own beer.
Excise officer April Tackett explained, “So this is a riverfront permit, so they are not allowed to even apply for carryout or have carryout, except, because they are a small brewer, and they do the crowlers and those sort of things, it’s a specialty to them, their product is the only one that they can sell for carryout.”
Adam and Kimberly do not plan to have any other employees at the business, which will be limited to those customers who are 21 years and older.
There were no remonstrators.
The board approved the new license, which will go before the state commission next week for final approval.
