NORTH MANCHESTER – At Wednesday night's meeting, the North Manchester Town Council approved a $52,138 quote from Shepherd's Chevrolet for a 2026 Chevy Silverado.
This service truck for the fire department will replace the 2011 Chevy Tahoe which Fire Chief Cam Kissinger said is costing more than it is worth in repairs. The new truck will be outfitted with gear storage in the bed rather than the cab, to keep contaminants away from anyone driving or riding in the vehicle.
During the annual election of officers, council voted Chalmer “Toby” Tobias as president and Laura Rager as vice president for 2026.
In visitor comments, council heard from local residents Josh Leffel and Amy Lybarger, who oppose the Carbon Capture Sequestration project, proposed by POET Pure Biorefining and Vault 44.01, which would involve injecting CO₂ underground.
Lybarger provided a letter of opposition to council members which details her concerns regarding the impact of the CO₂ on the environment including seismic activity and water and soil contamination.
There was a town docket of $240,010.88 and a utilities docket of $343,211.14.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 4.
