ISP To Have Checkpoint In Whitley County

FORT WAYNE – The Fort Wayne District of the Indiana State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Whitley County late Friday.

The sobriety checkpoint will be utilized in an area identified as having a high number of alcohol-related crashes.

Sergeant Kristopher Coffey is reminding motorists to have their driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations readily available when entering the checkpoint, to minimize the amount of time they are delayed.  Coffey also offers the following tips:

• Plan ahead and always designate someone as a designated driver.

• Don’t get behind the wheel of a vehicle if you’ve been consuming alcoholic beverages.

• If you are impaired, call a taxi, a sober friend or family member to come and get you.

• If you are hosting a party, always offer alcohol-free beverages, and make sure that all of your guests leave with a sober driver.

Texas Roadhouse Opens Monday

Warsaw’s Texas Roadhouse location opens Monday at 700 W. CR 300 N.

This week, as the restaurant trains new cooks, meat cutters and other kitchen members, local police and firefighters will be the first to try the restaurant’s food.

Prior to opening, the restaurant will host invitation-only events and raise money for the American Legion.

“Being a strong community partner is part of our mission,” said managing partner Brandon Anderson. “We chose to work with our local police, fire and veterans, because as first responders and defenders of our country, these folks represent the very fabric of what Texas Roadhouse community outreach is all about. We are dedicated to serving those who serve us and can’t imagine a more meaningful way to celebrate our opening.”

The restaurant brings 150 jobs to the community.

Texas Roadhouse’s official ribbon-cutting is at noon Monday.
