New Hope Pet Rescue Plans Fundraiser For Adoption Center

Posted
SYRACUSE – New Hope Pet Rescue, Syracuse, has scheduled a fundraiser benefit to build an adoption center.

The benefit is July 23 at Eagles Lodge, 12889 N. Kern Road, Syracuse.

The benefit is to help raise funds to build an adoption center to house homeless cats and dogs.

Tickets are $15 per person or two for $25. Admittance for the evening without dinner is $10. Tickets can be purchased at Crossroads Bank and Revolving Closet, both of Syracuse.

People who cannot attend the benefit can donate to a fund that has been set up at Crossroads Bank.

Dinner will be provided by Kelly Jae’s Cafe, Goshen, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gary Gerard Group will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight, and a silent auction will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Hannah Bushong will sing and her dad, Tim, will accompany her on the guitar. Heidi and Hannah Warstler will sing, and Whitney Wright will play the guitar.

Angie Wright and Jill Mays are co-founders of New Hope Pet Rescue. They organized New Hope in 1999, and the group received its non-profit status in 2004.

Cats and dogs of New Hope are currently housed at Mays’ home. Wright also houses cats from the rescue center, and dogs are in foster homes.
New Hope, serving Kosciusko and Elkhart counties, does not currently have a facility. The organization has been collecting funds to build an adoption center for cats and dogs.

The group has raised $60,000 for the adoption center over the past two years, according to Wright.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match $60,000 New Hope raises, however, the funds must be raised from January to the end of this month.
The funds New Hope has raised have been collected before the January and July time frame.

“The dogs from the center will continue to be kept in foster homes, but the adoption center gives an option if there’s an emergency to have a place to take dogs until we can find foster homes,” Wright said.
