SYRACUSE – New Hope Pet Rescue is planning two events of public interest this month. A benefit dinner with entertainment is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. June 18 at the Syracuse Eagles, 12889 N. Kern Road, Syracuse. Also, a grand opening celebration is planned June 25 at the shelter at 72555 CR 29, Syracuse. New Hope Pet Rescue has been in operation since 1999, serving a need for housing homeless dogs and cats in the northern part of Kosciusko County. In 2015, property was purchased and construction of a new facility began, allowing the rescue to expand its services. Proceeds from the June 18 benefit will be used for operating expenses for the recently completed facility, such as veterinary bills, food, utilities, litter and other items needed to house homeless pets. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a haystack dinner. Dinner will be served until 8:30 p.m. A live auction wil be from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and a silent action will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening. Items to be auctioned were donated by Syracuse area merchants and include overnight hotel room packages, pontoon rental for a day on Lake Wawasee, patio furniture, a grill out package, $100 gift cards, dinner packages, lake toys and more. The benefit also will include several raffles and door prizes. Entertainment throughout the evening will be provided by DJ Randy Peterson. Cost for the event is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Tickets are available at Crossroads Bank, Syracuse; Syracuse Eagles and at the door. For those unable to attend and who would like to help, donations are being accepted at Crossroads Bank. The grand opening June 25 will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will give the public an opportunity to tour the new facility and visit with the animals. Animals will be available for adoption or fostering. Light refreshments, giveaways and door prizes will be offered. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be accepted.
