New Biz Looking To Adopt Two Girls For Prom

Posted
New Looks Boutique opened its doors this week and is looking to help two area girls in need.

Owner Judy Haywood and manager Ashley King are looking for two high school girls who can't afford to go to prom.

Haywood and King said they want to provide everything and will help the girls with shoes, the dress, hair, nails as well as spa treatment.

They said they are looking to have the two girls picked by the end of April, with prom for most schools the second week of May.

New Looks is at 1301 N. Detroit St., Suite A, on the west side of the street.

Haywood said her store provides trendy fashion as well as candles, perfume and jewelry.

While not a consignment shop, New Looks will purchase gently used items.

Haywood said she is purchasing brands typically found in big cities.

"We want to cater to everyone," said Haywood. "We have plus size clothing. We want to be a place for all types of sizes and ages."

"We even invite guys to come in if they're looking for something for their girlfriends or wives," said King.

This is the first business venture for both Haywood and King.

Haywood said, along with sponsoring two girls for prom, she also will have a donation jar out at her store and make monthly donations to not-for-profits in the community.

Her focus, she said, is to help benefit organizations in the county geared toward women like the ones who stay at the Beaman Home.

She said she'll also encourage people looking to sell items to her boutique to also consider donating to places like The Beaman Home.New Looks Boutique is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m.
