A national media organization contacted Monica Boyer Wednesday about its interest in reporting on a U.S. Senate debate that has been planned in Warsaw.
During an interview Wednesday afternoon, Boyer, co-founder of Kosciusko County Silent No More, said she received an e-mail from a national media organization who expressed their interest in covering a debate the organization is sponsoring.
Boyer was advised by the media organization to not disclose their media affiliation because the story is about the Senate candidates, not the media interested in covering the debate.Kosciusko Silent No More has announced that they will be giving the U.S. Senatorial candidates a voice in Kosciusko County by the form of a formal debate.
The group will host the Senate debate March 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at Center Lake Pavilion, 119 E. Canal St, Warsaw.
Four of the senate candidates have agreed to participate, including Don Bates Jr. (R-Kokomo), Marlin Stutzman (R-Howe), John Hostettler (R-Blairsville) and Richard Behney (R-Fishers).
To date, former Senator Dan Coats has not formally responded to the invitation to speak at the forum, Boyer said. The Senate seat is currently held by Evan Bayh, who announced he is not seeking re-election.
Kosciusko County Silent No More is a grassroots organization that is designed for the purpose of standing for freedom and the Constitution.
To bring about less government, more responsibility, and a better world by providing leadership, education, and organized volunteer action in accordance with moral and Constitutional principles is its mission.
The group meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 7 pm.
The group has previously held candidate forums at the church when Bates, Hostettler and Behney spoke.
Boyer is asking people from the community to e-mail their questions for the candidates for the debate to kosdebate@gmail.com The questions will be randomly chosen.
"It's time for Kosciusko County to have a voice in the political arena. This election will have a massive impact that will affect our children, and grandchildren," Boyer said.
She said we can no longer sit idly by and let those in D.C. make poor decisions for us.
"It's time we choose a candidate who will be fiscally responsible and stay true to moral and constitutional principles," Boyer said.
She said it's time for Hoosiers to get involved.
