Police and bystanders watch Friday evening as police divers search Pike Lake for the body of Michael Dean Reiken, of North Manchester. Reiken was found, but was later pronounced dead at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

A North Manchester man drowned Friday in Pike Lake.

Michael Dean Reiken, 35, of lot 17, CR 500E, Ind. 13, North Manchester, was pronounced dead at 5:43 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

According to the Warsaw Police Department report, Reiken jumped off the diving board into the water at Pike Lake beach and never surfaced.

Reiken's body was located by the WPD Dive Team and taken to shore, where paramedics began treating him. He was then transported by ambulance to KCH.

A friend of Reiken's, Sheri Lynn Simmons, 27, North Manchester, said Reiken was a good swimmer and had jumped off the diving board many times before without problems, according to police reports. She said the victim was not on any medications but had complained earlier of being tired.
