Moore Takes Oath As WWFT Firefighter; Brown’s & Wiggs’ Service Anniversaries Recognized

Warsaw Common Councilwoman Diane Quance noted the “joyous” atmosphere at the start of the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Friday.
It was all due to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory firefighter Delton Moore taking his oath of office after his one-year probationary period, and Warsaw Police Department Sgt. Chris Brown and Parks Department laborer Dusty Wiggs being recognized for their service anniversaries. The council chambers at City Hall was filled with firefighters, police officers and parks employees there to support the three men.
Before giving Moore the oath, Warsaw Mayor Jeff Grose said, “It’s a privilege to be standing here. Delton and his family are here today because - I’ve said this countless times before - he is willing to, telling our community, ‘I am willing to run into trouble while others are running away from it.’ And a great deal of respect for what they’re about to do.”
Grose then had everyone present who works in emergency services - police and fire - stand up to be recognized.
“A huge thank you for what you do each and every day. Also, a huge thank you for supporting Delton and his family as he steps forward to serve this community,” Grose said, who then gave Moore the oath.
Moore’s wife, Breanna, pinned his badge on his uniform.
Montana Gardner, Warsaw Human Resources Department generalist, then recognized the years of service to the city by Brown and Wiggs.
“Today we have two employees to recognize. They’re hitting major milestones this month,” she said.
Brown is celebrating 10 years with the city.
“Chris, we want to thank you for your decade of service, leadership and dedication to keeping our community safe, and we really appreciate everything you do,” Gardner told him.
Next up, she recognized Wiggs for his 20 years with the city.
“Dusty is a parks laborer. He’s been with the city for an incredible 20 years - that’s two decades of hard work, making our parks great places for everyone to enjoy. Dusty, thank you for all the effort and pride you bring to your work every single day,” Gardner told him.
