Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Combined Community Services' emergency assistance is gearing up for the annual "Christmas in July" school supply giveaway, Aug. 8-9.
The giveaway will be at CCS, 110 E. Prairie St., Warsaw.
ML Motorsports launched a Shift Gear charity program with "Tools for School" in support of the program.
"The Christmas in July giveaway is an incredible program and we're going to do everything we can to help them out this year," said Christy Smith, ML Motorsports' public relations director. Last week the car was at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair to gather support for the event.
This week the car will be at Schoop's, Warsaw, Wednesday during the restaurant's "Cool Car" night. Anyone bringing a book bag or a $10 donation will receive a ML Motorsports hat.
During the first day of the giveaway, Aug. 8, ML Motorsports driver Justin Diercks will hand out school supplies along with Caudill's ATA junior leaders, Tom Craft of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and other officers from the Fraternal Order of Police. The ML Motorsports car will be at the giveaway both days.
Ami Pitt, CCS's volunteer coordinator, and Peggi Lisenbee Wright, CCS's director of client assistance, said they are grateful for the additional support.
"Having Justin pass out supplies and being able to see the car during the giveaway will thrill the children," Pitt said.
School supplies or monetary donations can be dropped off at Schoop's Wednesday from 5 p.m. until dark, or at CCS.
For more information, call Lisenbee Wright at CCS, 574-269-6019, Ext. 22.
