Milford Town Council Meeting Cancelled

Posted
MILFORD – Monday’s Milford Town Council meeting was cancelled due to a lack of a quorum.

All 25 chairs in the council chamber were filled when the meeting was scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but Doug Ruch was the only council member present. Ruch announced that Dan Cochran was out of town on a family emergency, and he would wait to give Bob Cockburn a chance to arrive before cancelling the meeting.

Clerk-Treasurer Joellen Free said she found out around 6 p.m. that Cockburn wouldn’t be able to attend, and that she had notified town attorney Jay Rigdon not to bother coming to the meeting. Free didn’t say why Cockburn couldn’t attend.

Several people in the crowd were upset that the meeting wouldn’t be rescheduled. Free said by the time a rescheduled meeting were legally advertised, it would be about time to have the July 9 meeting. The council meets the second Monday of each month.

There was nothing on Monday’s agenda regarding the proposed sanitary sewer line to run from the town to Camp Mack, and the July agenda won’t be finalized until the first week of the month.

It wasn’t immediately known when the last time a Milford Town Council meeting was cancelled.
