A Milford man was scheduled to be in court today for multiple charges resulting from a traffic fatality he allegedly caused in 2014. Matthew Wagoner, 30, of 10398 N. Grove Road, Milford, was arrested in September 2014 for a traffic wreck he allegedly caused in July of that year. According to the Kosciusko County prosecutor’s office, Wagoner committed the crime of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing the death of Jeremy Valentine, a husband and father from Wynnewood, Penn. On July 20, 2014, Wagoner was witnessed driving recklessly near South Main Street in North Webster, crossing the center line and ultimately crashing into Valentine’s car, according to a probable cause affidavit. With Valentine were his wife and two young children. Valentine was pronounced dead at the scene while his wife, Seana, was airlifted to Parkview Fort Wayne and both children suffered serious injuries. Wagoner and his two young sons were also injured in the wreck. Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team led the investigation. Wagoner refused to consent to a blood draw and drug test, and was then airlifted to Parkview. Through extensive warrants, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department obtained Wagoner’s blood from Parkview. Tests confirmed that Wagoner was under the influence of meth, the affidavit states. Wagoner is charged with multiple felonies – operating a motor vehicle while intoxicatd causing death; three counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury; neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a minor passenger in the vehicle. The charges together carry a maximum of 38 years in prison. Wagoner pleaded guilty to all charges Aug. 27. He was set to appear in Kosciusko Superior Court 3 at noon today.
