MILFORD – Town Council introduced an ordinance Monday to annex about nine acres of land owned by Chore-Time Brock and held a public hearing without comment. The voluntary annexation of the town-adjacent land has a favorable recommendation from Van Buren Township and the Wawasee Community School Corp., and the council will vote on it next month. Council also heard from Utilities Supervisor Randy Veach that new water lines will be installed on First Street beginning Thursday or Friday. Council approved the $23,000 project last month after hearing the lines have required repair and may break again in winter. Veach said the 1-inch lines will be tested for two days before being switched on, which may result in only a 15-minute interruption of service for First Street residents. He noted that some residents may need to change their own water lines because of the increase in water pressure. Also Monday, council: • Approved $1,117.50 for a new set of tires for the town dump truck at Veach’s request. • Approved $600 for a dashboard camera for a town police cruiser and $500 for a terminal service agreement with Kosciusko County, which gives town police access to county records. • Voted to allow a resident to install a double-wide trailer on his property pending clarification of title and with the stipulation that he hook up to the town wastewater system and do so within the next few weeks. • Heard that Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. is the last day for leaf pickup. Residents are instructed to rake leaves to the curb but not in alleyways.
