Milford Hires Operator For Wastewater Treatment Plant

Posted

MILFORD -ÊThe town of Milford hired Mike Brubaker to be the new wastewater plant operator at a salary of $15 per hour with a possible $1 an hour raise after the first 90 days of probationary time.

Brubaker will accompany Dallas Winchester to the IWA meeting in Indianapolis Nov. 15-16, but he won't officially start working for the town until the facility is completed, estimated to be late November.

In other business, Winchester gave the council two quotes for the fencing for the new facility. Accent Fence Co. of Marine Key Drive in Syracuse was the winning bidder at $14,540.

Winchester requested the town contract with Tim Woodward for $500 per month for a period of not more than six months to set up and train the staff on the computer system and software for the new facility.

An additional $10,200 was authorized for lab equipment, computers and office furniture.

There were no reports from the fire or parks departments. The EMS is looking to hire qualified technicians and drivers.

Leaf pickup will end Friday. After that, leaves will need to be placed in bags for pickup. The council complimented the crews on the job they have been doing, saying, "The town looks great."

Town Marshal David Hobbs wants everyone to remember that cold weather is coming and they need to allow time for the frost and ice on car windows to clear before trying to drive.

Over the Halloween weekend, three cars were broken into and items stolen. Hobbs asked residents to lock their cars and take valuables in the house.

An ordinance for salaries for town employees will be presented at the next meeting, Dec. 13. Raises will be somewhere between 2-5 percent and mileage will be raised to state minimum, the council said.

Winchester said utility department employees are not paid from tax dollars, their salaries come from usage fees.

The town is still investigating high speed Internet service for town offices.

The town employees' Christmas dinner will be Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.
