Ten awards were given to nine different artists at the Lakeland Art Association’s 22nd annual Spring Juried Art Show at the Lakeland Art Gallery, 119 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw.
Melody Koher, Lakeland Art Association president, said 19 artists participated with 53 pieces entered into the show. She said it’s about the same level of participation as past years.
“We have artwork from Fort Wayne and North Manchester and surrounding counties and a lot from Kosciusko County,” she stated. “Some of it is photographs, some of it is paintings ... there’s a wide variety. Some of its metal sculptures, some of it is ceramic sculpture. Wood carving.”
Judge for the show was Warsaw Community High School visual arts, ceramics and sculpture teacher Andrew Tomasik.
Best of Show went to Wesley Dallas Merritt for his “Under the Apple Tree.”
First place went to Brenda Stichter for “Heart and Soul”; second place, Wesley Dallas Merritt, “Hunter of Solace”; and third place went to Sherri Johnson for “Water’s Edge.”
Six honorable mentions were given: E. Wamsley, “Basket of Faux”; Dustin Wiggs, “Viking Dwarf”; Madelene Bussart, “Holy Bowl”; Donna Roosa, “Mystic Waters”; Daniel Trump, “Cardinal”; and Paul Raiman, “Seeking.”

The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Fridays open 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. They also participate and are open during the Sip N Shop events.
“It’s free to enter the gallery, there’s no charge, and the exhibits change every four to six weeks, so there’s always a new exhibit,” Koher said.
