Mermaid Festival Celebrates 60th Year With Food, Fun

NORTH WEBSTER - The Mermaid Festival is well underway with the youth league baseball and softball tournament starting today at 4:30 p.m.

The games continue through Saturday.

Also today, the United Methodist women's chicken noodle dinner and bake sale is from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church on Epworth Forest Road.

The seventh annual Power Wheels Competition, sponsored by Sprint, begins at 7 p.m., registration is at 6 p.m.

Rick and Bob's karaoke performs on Merlin's Stage at 8 p.m.

Tomorrow is bracelet day for Poor Jack Amusements' rides and entertainment, which starts at 1 p.m. The merchant building also opens at 1 p.m. along with the Milford Lions food stand.

Performing on Merlin's Stage at 2 p.m. is Ashley Lyon. Living Word performs at 8 p.m.

The popular cutie parade is at 6:30 p.m. along Main Street.

The United Methodist Church strawberry festival is from 4 to 8 p.m. in the foot tent across from the festival grounds.

Thursday

The merchant building and Poor Jacks Amusements opens at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The Milford Lions' food stand is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The United Methodist Church youth barbecue chicken dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. in the food tent.

An Extreme BMX Expedition demonstration is on Washington Street from 6 to 9 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the Lake City Bank-sponsored coin hunt in the sand begins.

Unfinished Business performs on Merlin's Stage at 8 p.m. and the winner of the boy's and the girl's bicycles will be announced by the North Webster Lions Club at 8:30 p.m.

Friday

Church of the Brethren holds its annual tenderloin dinner in the church from 4 to 8 p.m.

Registration for the Demolition Derby begins at 5 p.m. with the derby event at 7 p.m.

Also at 7 p.m. is the Cutie King and Queen Pageant in the North Webster Community Center.

Short Term Memories performs on Merlin's Stage at 8 p.m.

Saturday

The day begins early with the United Methodist Church serving a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. in the food tent.

The Tournament of Champions begins at 8 a.m. at the North Webster Elementary School.

The American Legion Post 253's chicken dinner begins at noon. The merchant building and midway open at 1 p.m. Saturday is another bracelet day.

The seventh annual arm wrestling event is at 1 p.m.

The United Methodist Church's hot dog dinner is in the food tent from 4 to 7 p.m.

At 4 p.m. is the 60th Annual Mermaid Festival parade. This year's theme is "Rockin' to the '60s." Parade awards are announced at 6 p.m. in the Lions Club activity building.

At 6:30 p.m., the North Webster Ski Bees perform on Webster Lake.

At 8 p.m., Falling on Faith performs on Merlin's Stage.

The Central Indiana Tractor Pullers Association mini rod pullers competition begins at 6 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
