MENTONE - Complaints about the cable television service in town prompted town officials to review the contract with Galaxy American.
Mentone Town Council President Ed Rock said during Monday's meeting that there is a nonexclusive agreement, which means the town can accept any other consideration for cable service. Rock said any and all franchise proposals will be considered by interested servers.
Rock said numerous complaints have been received from customers who are residents of Mentone.
In other business, the council tabled consideration of the purchase of a new dump truck for the street department. Street superintendent Darrel Miller provided an estimate for a new chassis, but not the accessories.
Council members asked Miller to present prices for a dump bed and a snow plow for the vehicle, as well as getting a value for the current truck that will be sold.
In other matters:
Leaf collection starts Oct. 8 and runs through Nov. 30. Residents are asked to rake the leaves to the edge of the street, but not onto the pavement.
Fall cleanup is set for Oct. 19. Large trash items will be collected on that day.
Trick-or-treat hours were set for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
The Mentone Town Council meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month. Council members are Ed Rock, Ed Lamar and Mike Diemer.
