A neighborhood meeting tonight will discuss a possible alternate location for a permanent homeless shelter in Warsaw.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at Community Bible Church, at the intersection of County Farm Road and CR 300S, Warsaw, one mile south of Warsaw Community Church.
Fellowship Missions is considering the Victory Christian Center facility as another option for a shelter.
The property is south of CR 300S, west of County Farm Road, and south of Warsaw Community Church.
Eric Lane, Fellowship Missions director, said the organization has not ruled out the former Tri-Namic building on South Buffalo Street as a possible site for a permanent homeless shelter, but wants to consider all options for location.
Fellowship Missions has signed a purchase agreement on the Tri-Namic building with Mutual Federal Bank, who owns the property, but has not completed the purchase.
Lane said Fellowship Missions has informed Mutual Federal of its intentions to consider the Victory Christian Center as another possible location for a permanent shelter.
Lane said Fellowship Missions has been researching the Victory Christian Center for the past two weeks, and wanted a neighborhood meeting to receive input from the community.
Lane said Fellowship Missions filed a request Wednesday to go before the Kosciusko County Commissioners Oct. 11 for a zoning request to use Victory Christian Center for a shelter.
Fellowship Missions currently has a temporary shelter for men at 425 S. Buffalo St., and a temporary shelter for women and children at 337 N. Buffalo St.
Lane said the men’s shelter is averaging 16 men a night and the women’s shelter is averaging 11 women a night.
