Residents who live in Meadowbrook Addition will have the opportunity to provide their input on making Dubois Drive a one-way street.
The city will hold a neighborhood meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. at city hall where residents can share their concerns or ideas in making Dubois Drive one way.
The Warsaw Traffic Commission reviewed a traffic impact analysis at its Nov. 2 meeting prepared by A&F Engineering regarding a proposed commercial and residential development along Patterson Road and Husky Trail.
The commission approved submitting the traffic recommendations from the analysis to the city council and Warsaw Plan Commission for approval.
The city council discussed the traffic recommendations during its Nov. 6 meeting and tabled the request to make Dubois Drive one way.
Mayor Ernie Wiggins and council members Joe Thallemer and Jeff Grose suggested the traffic commission discuss the proposal with residents who would be affected by making the street one way before the city council approves the recommendation to make Dubois Drive one way.
The proposal would be to change Dubois Drive to a one-way street westbound between Parker Street and Provident Drive.
The proposed development includes a Menards Home Improvement superstore, approximately 78,000 square feet of additional retail development and approximately 75 single-family homes.
If the proposal is approved by the city council, traffic intending to travel eastbound on Dubois Drive, east of Provident Drive, would be required to find an alternate route, according to the proposal.
This may impact motor vehicle traffic traveling primarily on Brookview Drive and Sally Street in Meadowbrook Addition, according to Lt. Kip Shuter.
Shuter said the traffic commission would like to prevent any cut through traffic due to the proposed change and would like input from residents on the matter.
Those who cannot attend the meeting may provide input by calling Lt. Kip Shuter at 574-372-9524, fax 267-3616 or e-mail at kipss@warsawpd.org
