Marsh Supermarkets is partnering with U.S. Senator Richard Lugar during National Hunger Action Month to help fight hunger in Indiana.
During September, shoppers at any Marsh Indiana location may purchase a $3, $5 or $10 bag of groceries as a contribution to the Hoosiers Fighting Hunger food donation bin.
Register receipts will note customer food donations, providing a receipt for tax filing purposes. All food donations will be delivered to local food banks and distributed to those in need.
As part of the campaign, Lugar will visit the Marsh store, 500 S. Buffalo St., Saturday at approximately 10:30 a.m.
“Senator Lugar has long been noted for his commitment to hunger relief initiatives and Marsh Supermarkets is honored to once again partner with him in the ‘Hoosiers Fighting Hunger’ campaign,” said Joe Kelley, chairman, CEO and president of Marsh Supermarkets Inc.
“Throughout our 80 year history, Marsh has had a corporate commitment of giving back to the communities where we live and work. Last year’s campaign was overwhelming successful and we look forward to another great food collection effort again this year.”
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Marsh operates 70 Marsh stores, including three O’Malia's Supermarkets and 27 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
