Manchester Woman Dies When Train Hits Car

NORTH MANCHESTER - A North Manchester woman is dead and the driver of the car she was in was injured when their car was struck by a train Friday evening near North Manchester.

Melissa Albright, 25, was pinned in the wreckage at the scene of the 5:57 p.m. accident on Wabash CR 100W, about a mile north of Wabash CR 1300N. She was pronounced dead from her injuries at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she and the driver, Jon Albright, no age given, were taken by helicopter ambulance.

According to the Wabash County Sheriff's Department, Jon Albright was ejected through the rear window of the car. He suffered unspecified injuries and was listed in serious condition this morning at Parkview.

The Albright car was crossing the railroad tracks southbound on Wabash CR 100W when it was struck by a Norfolk and Southern train. The car was then dragged about 75 feet.
