Manchester Man Brought To Kosciusko To Face Battery ChargesA man in the Wabash County Jail was recently taken to the Kosciusko County Jail so he can face domestic battery charges from over a year ago.
Colt James Hubler, 24, of 208 E. Second St., North Manchester, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday for battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. His preliminary bond was set at $3,750.
Court documents filed Jan. 25 list the charges against him as domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor with a sentence enhancement to make it a level 6 felony.
Hubler was previously convicted of domestic battery in Kosciusko County on Feb. 2, 2017.
An initial hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.
On Jan. 8, 2018, Warsaw Police Department officer Daniel Clemens was dispatched to a business for a domestic disturbance. Kosciusko County Central Dispatch said a woman arrived at the store and requested police be called.
She told Clemens that she and her brother-in-law, Hubler, were in her vehicle traveling to a trailer park with Hubler driving. While in the vehicle, an altercation occurred. Hubler hit the victim in the face with his hand, causing her pain to her nose and left eye, according to court documents.
Hubler stopped the vehicle and he and the victim got out and argued. The victim sat in the driver’s seat, where Hubler hit her in the head with a closed fist, causing her more pain. The victim exited the vehicle and ran to the business to get assistance. Hubler took the vehicle’s keys and threw them into a parking lot and left the scene.
Clemens saw bruising on the victim’s left eye and a bump on the left side of her head. The victim said she and Hubler were involved in a sexual relationship.
