A Warsaw man was arrested Saturday for cruelty to an animal after leaving his dog inside a hot residence without food or water for two days.
Police were called Aug. 7 to 857 Oakbrook Place, Warsaw, for an animal complaint, according to Warsaw Police Dept. Lt. Kip Shuter. After finding the house empty and observing a dog inside the residence, officers checked the temperature inside the home and found it at 94 degrees. The officers made contact with the property’s management company and were informed the occupant had moved out.
Officers made entry into the home and found the dog in poor condition, without food or water, and several bags of animal waste inside the house. The officers then made contact with the previous tenant, identified as Chad Michael King, 41, Warsaw, who told them his car had broken down and he was unable to return to the house to feed or water the dog and that he had not been to the house in two days.
The officers removed the dog from the home and sent charges to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. King was arrested Saturday on a charge of cruelty to animals and held on a $750 bond.
